“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

― Maya Angelou

Sometimes, there are no ways around our hurts. At Speakeasy Counseling, we strive to provide counseling in a relaxed manner. We believe counseling should be serious at times but can also be fun and lighthearted if you allow it. I am thankful for the chance to go on this journey with you. Through all of the emotions, twists, and turns, let's figure this out together.

My Story

My Degrees and Credentials:

  • B.A. in Applied Arts & Sciences minor in Elementary Education - Texas State University

  • M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling - Texas A&M University-Central Texas

  • Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate

  • National Certified Counselor (NCC)

  • Nurturing Families Facilitator

About the Process:

Counseling can be very vulnerable at times. We will discuss hard things and may sometimes not be talked about outside of our therapeutic relationship. For this reason, the forefront of my process of therapy begins with rapport. Without mutual trust and respect in one another, healing cannot start. I believe it is my duty to establish a relationship that is unbiased and safe for you. While counseling can be hard and serious, I hope that we can have fun times and laugh while we discuss different aspects of your life. As a clinician, I have assisted individuals, families, and groups and provided counseling to youths, adolescents, and adults. My areas of interest include:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Adolescent Navigation

  • Self-Harming Behavior

  • Self-Acceptance

  • LGBTQIA+

  • Origins of Psychosis

  • Origins of Mania

  • Grief and Loss

  • Parenting Navigation

  • Life Adjustments

We will work very hard in our sessions, and I will hold you accountable for your goals. In turn, I ask you to hold me to the same standard; hold me responsible, and allow me to work at your pace.

Counseling Services & Theoretical Approaches

I believe a client is best served when a counselor uses a blended method of treatment modalities. Some of the most common forms of treatment types I pull from are:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Person-Centered Therapy

  • Narrative Therapy

Utilizing tools from these different types of treatments will assist in achieving your therapeutic goals. Understanding behaviors, values, and a commitment to change are at the forefront of these treatments. I hope to help you understand and form the best possible version of yourself.
